Who are we looking for to join our Workspace Projects’ Team? 

Buro Happold Workspace Team are the specialists in delivering high quality office workspace projects, mainly in the German Market. The special features of such projects are the fast project development, client-oriented standard solutions, working with existing, often very old buildings and the quick feedback from the construction site due to the short time frame until the completion of the project. Working on such projects offers a fast-learning curve and the opportunity to take on the role of site supervisor. For the more experienced engineers, it offers the opportunity to standardise working practices, make them more efficient and develop universal solutions. Projects are planned and completed within a year.   


Key responsibilities: 

  • Operate and competently work on an independent basis; 

  • Communicate directly with Clients; 

  • Assist the project leader to monitor job resourcing and expenditure;  

  • Prepare and take responsibility for engineering solutions from concept to execution design; 

  • Prepare Technical Specifications; 

  • Contribute to setting up and management of job/project administrative systems; 

  • Ensure the senior staff are regularly informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the client is achieved;  

  • Ensure all relevant BH staff are informed of client matters; 

  • Continually ensure that practices, policies, strategies and services represent the client`s best interests and that BH policy is in keeping with current legislation, international Standards and Codes of Practice etc; 

  • Commitment to CPD and self-learning/development, develop Revit MEP and BIM skills as well as train other colleagues.  


Our expectations: 

  • Msc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification; 

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the field of mechanical design; 

  • Broad knowledge of the political, legal, environmental and technical issues relating to the sustainable development of the built environment; 

  • Developing track record of experience in the field of building services engineering; 

  • Good communication skills and preferably good knowledge in English (B2+); 

  • Experience in LINEAR/Installsoft/Solar Planning Design Software; 

  • Competent in the use of AutoCAD and Revit 3D Modelling software; 

  • Good level of understanding of multi-disciplinary building design; 

  • Strong interest in the design of passive low energy buildings and building simulation and energy code calculations; 

  • Desire to develop skills in consulting architects and client of engineering design strategy; 

  • Confident, proactive character, with a growing ability to take the lead in challenging situations; 

  • Potential to consult clients; 

  • Desire to grow into a position of more senior level of responsibility; 

  • Excellent IT skills esp. CAD, Revit, Microsoft Software etc; 

  • German language skills will be an advantage.
